This calculator allows you to see the potential health and economic impact of a food and drinks industry levy in your area, over a 25-year period.

It only considers the effect of the levy itself, so any benefits coming from the revenue raised could potentially further increase the impact and health improvements.

Developing the calculator

We considered different responses from consumers and industry to a proposed levy. These were summarised into four scenarios by the Institute for Fiscal Studies based on the degree to which industry reformulates and the degree to consumers substitute to different products to avoid price increases.

The figures here have been broken down to constituency level and are an indicator based on population size.
